about

Since the main ♃ already has information on why and how this track was the starting point for this EP, I'll talk about something else instead: The track names. I'd long had an idea that I'd like to use some of the awesome names from the Greek mythology as track names, and I just kind of randomly called the original Kallisto loop "Europa". As the concept and idea for the EP became clearer, I realized the so-called Galilean moons, Jupiter's four greatest moons, would be just excellent both because they all had names derived from Greek mythology and because they were moons and thus were in space, which was the main inspiration for the music on this EP. I'd previously considered naming the tracks after space probes (Voyager, Cassini etc.), but I liked this idea more. In the end I had to shuffle the names around a bit so the names would correspond to the order of the moons, which is why this track ended up being Kallisto instead of Europe.

I'd still like to use names like Titan and Gaia somewhere.
